The Center for Decorporative Research presents April Is The Cruelest Month, a project examining the mythology and aesthetics of environmental devastation. This project is comprised of a live demonstration (performed April 24th, 2006 at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago), a Demonstration Manual, a series of critical essays, and a demonstration video. In the performance, the audience is guided through through five stages of organic toxification by three licenced technicians of the CDR. The textual and auditory sources include traditional children's songs from China, testimonies from victims of the Bhopal chemical disaster, the poetry of T.S. Eliot, music from Sting and the Police, and numerous audio clips from news media about environmental devastation. Performed at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, April 24th, 2006.
